The village of Byurakan is located in Aragatsotn region of Armenia. Byurakan was also known as Pirtakan, Pirakan. St. Hovhannes church is situated in Byurakan. Nearby there is also a church called Artavazik, built in the 7th century. Byurakan is also home to the Byurakan observatory.
