Day 1

Departure from Yerevan.  You stop at Javakhk and Kars. Arrival in Bayazet, check-in at the hotel. Meeting with the Turkish partners to check the last details about the ascent.

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, technical equipments are given out. After getting the last instructions about the ascent, the travellers undergo general medical examination. 
Transfer to village Elle (at an altitude of 2000m) by minibus. Hereafter horses carry the backpacks. From there the hiking to the first camp (3200m) begins. It takes about 4 hours. After arriving at the camp, the tents are pitched and hot food is served for dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast you start for the second camp at 4200 m. The path is narrow and rocky and it takes four hours to get there. The area for pitching tents is cleaned and camping is done. After lunch, a discussion is held with the guide and the doctor. From this point you can have a breathtaking panorama of not only Iran, Dogubayazit and the small Ararat, but also the great peak. 
After dinner you go to bed as difficult ascend is awaiting the next day. Because of low temperature, the clothes to wear should be chosen appropriate to the climate. It is rather difficult to sleep at such an altitude and cold.

Day 4

Today is the great day as you get to the summit of Mount Ararat. Before the sunrise (usually at 03:00am or 02:00am depending on weather conditions) and after preparations and last discussions, it's time to reach the summit. You have to walk quietly and slowly.
If the sun shines, you will have a wonderful view. Depending on weather conditions, crampons may be needed for the last 200 meters. After a while you find yourself on the top of Mount Ararat (5165 m) and feel excited.
There is usually a strong wind on the top of the mountain and therefore cannot stay there for a long time. Afterwards you return to the second camp where you have a little rest. As it is rather difficult to to sleep at such an altitude and cold you continue to descent to the first camp (3200m).  It takes approximately 8 hours to climb down. After dinner it is time to have a rest.

Day 5

After breakfast, all equipments are loaded on horses and mules and you start to descent to Elle Village at 2200 meters. Here the minibus is waiting for you. You arrive in Bayazet and check-in at the the hotel. After having rest you start the tour around the city. You visit Bayazet fortress and Ishak Pasha Palace. In the evening you have gala dinner on the occasion of the conquest of Mount Ararat.

Day 6

After breakfast you start for Kars. On the way you stop at Igdir (the birthplace of Dro). You arrive in Kars. In 928 Kars was the 10th capital of Armenia. After a short rest you start the tour around Kars. St. Apostle’s church which was built during the reign of king Abas Bagratuni /928-953/ is a magnificent structure, still standing but it has been turned into a mosque. You admire the beauty of the fortress. Those who want can go up to the fortress from where they can have a beautiful panorama of the city. You go over across St. Vardan Bridge, see well preserved two-storeyed buildings in black tuffa and the ruins of Charents’ paternal house alongside them.

Day 7

In the morning you will leave for Ani, the 11th capital of Armenia. In 961 the capital was transferred from Kars to Ani. Ani is called A City of 1001 Churches: the Mother Cathedral, the church of the Holy Redeemer, the churches of Tigran Honents, Gagkashen, St Gregory of the Abughamrents, and the ruins of other buildings. Ani makes a sad impression on everybody.
After crossing the border you have a farewell dinner at the restaurant “Romantic” in Akhaltsikhe.
